Here's the combined sales total of single family homes for the entire Columbia Gorge Region: Hood River & Wasco Counties in Oregon, Klickitat & Skamania Counties in Washington.  These are the cities and towns reporting sales.  These sales are only LISTED sales not FSBO's or unlisted sales. There were 14 homes  sold gorge wide in the month of February 2009.

The latest sales data for February 2009  in Wasco County is in from the RMLS. Included are only sales of homes that are listed on the RMLS.  Unlisted properties and fsbo homes are not included.  There were 5 total homes sold in The Dalles in Wasco County. 

The Dalles- 1 townhouse- Listed for $139,000 Sold for $143,500 DOM-73  2 Single family homes- Listed for $199,000 Sold for $185,000  DOM- 85 and Listed for $189,900 Sold for $195,000 DOM-142

Dufur- Listed for $69,900 Sold for $60,000  DOM (days on market)-294

The Good News in Wasco County is that there are 24 homes currently sale pending. 23 in The Dalles, and 1 in Dufur.

Another slow month for Skamania County. There was 1 home sale in Skamania County in February 2009. This data reflects only properties that are listed on the RMLS. Sales of unlisted and FSBO properties are not included.

The home that sold was located in Carson. It was listed for $215,000 and sold for $189,000. It was a 1996 manufactured home located on a .46 acre lot. It was on the market for 149 days.

There are currently 7 properties sale pending in escrow in Skamania County: 1 home in North Bonneville, 2 homes in Stevenson, 2 homes in Carson, 1 cabin on leased land in Cougar and 1 unimproved lot/land in Skamania.

The latest sales data from the RMLS for Klickitat County is in.  Sales have slowed further since last month possibly partly due to the winter weather we experienced in Dec/Jan.  These sales comps reflect only properties listed on the RMLS.  Unlisted or fsbo properties are not included. There were 2 total residential sales  in Klickitat County for February 2009. Here's the break down.

There are currently 11 homes sale pending in Klickitat County.  2 in White Salmon, 2  in Snowden, 2 in Lyle,  1 in Dallesport, and 4 in Goldendale.

On Saturday, February 28, 2009, The Bonneville Lock and Dam interpretive ranger staff will host their annual Great Electrifying Event. This free educational event will be held at the Washington Shore Visitor Center from 10:00am-3:00 pm. The Great Electrifying Event is geared towards elementary and middle school students and will teach the basics of electricity and how it is generated at the Bonneville Lock and Dam. There will be hands-on activities and films. You can also take  a tour inside Bonneville's Powerhouse 2. This will include walking on top of two generators and partially inside one generator.

Do you know where Googleville is? It is located in Klickitat County near Dallesport, Washington. I have a listing nearby and was taking new pictures yesterday so I decided to get one of Googleville as well.

The Dalles is located about 80 miles east of Portland in Wasco County. The Dalles is one of Oregon's most historical cities known as the town at the end of the Oregon Trail. The Dalles was first incorporated by the Oregon Territorial Government in 1857 as "Dalles City" and was made the county seat which it remains to this day. The downtown area in The Dalles is a registered Historic District featuring architecture from the late 1800's and early 1900's. The population of The Dalles was 12,175 at last census.  The City provides services to over 70,000 residents of Wasco, Sherman and Hood River counties in Oregon and Klickitat and Skamania counties in Washington. The climate in The Dalles is high desert with only about 14" per year of precipitation.  Sweet cherries are the major agricultural product in The Dalles with over 6,000 acres of sweet cherry trees growing around the city. The annual "Cherry Days" festival is a favorite of many.

I liked the view of the Oregon hills with layers of fog. I took these pictures last week from Stevenson, WA where I've been spending a lot of time working with my husband on finish carpentry in a new house. This is the view from the master bedroom.
