Klickitat County Views

Klickitat County Washington is located east of Portland/Vancouver in the drier Columbia River Gorge region. There are many small towns and communities in Klickitat County with some being remotely located and accessed and even off the grid. Beautiful scenery abounds in Klickitat County with many mountain views and plenty of open sky.

Here are some views I've captured around Klickitat County over the years.

North Bonneville, Washington-Bonneville Dam fish viewing

The Bonneville Dam second powerhouse and fish viewing room are worth visiting if you are in the area. The displays are informative and interesting. You can take the powerhouse tour if desired as well. There are a lot of fish currently making their way up the fish ladders and visible in the viewing room. This is an educational way to spend an afternoon with your kids or grandkids and free to visit.

Columbia Gorge homes for sale

There are many homes currently for sale in the Columbia Gorge. Whether you are looking for a primary residence or a vacation home there are plenty to choose from in many gorge cities and small towns. Prices in Hood River start at about $200,000 for a single family home. There are some condos priced a bit lower. Across the river in White Salmon you'll find pricing similar to Hood River. There are however a few lower priced small homes available.

You will find homes are generally less in The Dalles than Hood River. Wasco County, however, has one of the highest property tax rates in the state of Oregon. If you are in the market to buy or sell I would be happy to help you with your real estate needs.

Mosier Fire-August 2009

The fire burning near Mosier, Oregon in the Columbia River Gorge covers over 1,000 acres. The State Historic Columbia River Highway Trail and the Hatfield east and west trail heads remain closed. I took these pictures this afternoon, Aug.30, 2009, from the Washington side of the Columbia River looking across to east of Hood River and west of Mosier.
